What To Watch This Weekend

November 12, 2021

Although there is no English Premiership or club soccer action this weekend, there’s still plenty for sports and betting fans to feast on. Here are some of the picks.

CRICKET

It’s been an action-packed last few weeks but the T20 Cricket World Cup final is upon us. Southern hemisphere rivals New Zealand and Australia go head-to-head to see who will be crowned champions. Australia look to have too much firepower in their batting order – witnessed by Matthew Wade closing out with 666 against Pakistan in the semi-final.

FORMULA ONE

Brazil Grand Prix: It’s starting to get squeaky bum time, as the great Sir Alex Ferguson coined it, when it comes to the closing stages of the F1 drivers’ championship. Max Verstappen in his Red Bull has opened up a bit of a gap over Lewis Hamilton and this weekend could go a long way to determining the destiny of the title. Should Verstappen win then time is fast running out for Hamilton, but if ths seven-time world champion prevails then it’s game on again!

RUGBY

The big event for South Africans this weekend is Saturday’s Test between Scotland and the Springboks at the famed Murrayfield. The Boks should win – last week we called the exact margin of victory over Wales (5 points) and this time we’re looking closer to 8 points for the world champions.

UFC

A future title shot is potentially on the line when Max Holloway faces Yair Rodriguez at UFC Vegas 42 in Rodriguez’s return following a two-year suspension. It should be a classic. Holloway said he’s out to throw 900-plus strikes against Rodriguez, while Rodriguez simply stated “two (explicit) warriors getting to (explicit) each other up.”

In the heavyweights, 52-fight veteran Ben Rothwell takes on Marcos Rogerio De Lima, while a women’s featherweight contest sees Felicia Spencer come up against Leah Letson.
