The ABSA Currie Cup this weekend what should be a great opener. Pumas versus the Free State Cheetahs, the match starts at 7 this evening, 18 December at the Mbombela Stadium. The Cheetah’s are favourite to win, but I like the Pumas at plus 10 1/2.
We jump across the world for Casters vs Newcastle Falcons in the European Challenge Cup at 7:30 at Kingston Park, New Castle. The European Challenge Cup is the annual European Union competition, a second-tier competition for the European Professional clubs but this should not be confused with the European Champions Cup also being played at 7:30 between Toulon and Scarlets, in Wales. The Champions cup, while also for European professional clubs, it is a top-tier competition for clubs whose countries compete in the Six Nations. Both of these matches will be hard fought and difficult to predict. I’m going to go with New Castle at 7/3 to 10 and Toulon in the other at 6/10. Also in the Champions Cup at 10pm tonight we have the Wasps vs Montpellier at Ricoh Arena, Coventry, Wasps may even beat the handicap of -6 1/2.
Moving on to Saturday, Leinster should have no trouble cruising past Northampton Saints in their Group A match for the European Champions Cup, not worth a bet in my opinion. The Lions vs The Sharks brings us back home to the Currie Cup, this should be a great game of rugby, starting at 7pm at Ellis Park. The Sharks could cause an upset here at 12/10. Enjoy.
